Information Technology Specialist

At the Falls Church Volunteer Fire Department (FCVFD), we rely on our Information Technology (IT) systems to power many of our mission-critical operations including Volunteer Collaboration, Donor Management & Volunteer Recruiting/On-boarding/Management. We’re seeking an IT Specialist to join us to support, maintain and improve these systems.

In this role, the Specialist will oversee IT systems and assets, assist with upgrades and fixes, and provide training and support as needed. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, have experience in user support and have basic knowledge of SaaS platforms.

Objectives of this role

  • Maintain essential IT operations, including security tools, applications, email systems and software
  • Handle business-critical IT tasks and system improvements
  • Enable faster and smarter business processes and employee productivity
  • Research and evaluate emerging technologies, hardware, and software

Responsibilities

  • Serve as admin for Google Workspace, including:
    • Adding and deactivating users
    • Managing distribution lists
    • Assisting with document management in Google Drive
  • Serve as admin for Salesforce, including:
    • Adding and deactivating users
    • Managing automated Flows
    • Ensuring data quality
    • Maintaining integrations with Paypal (via Zapier) for donation processing
    • Updating, as needed, Web-to-Lead form for processing prospective members
  • Serve as webmaster for our public Wordpress site, including:
    • Adding and deactivating users
    • Managing Blog posts
    • Maintaining plugins
  • Serve as developer for our private website, including:
    • Helping with password resets
    • Updating ASP/HTML/CSS code as necessary
    • Producing reports from SQL Server database
  • Serve as admin for Target Solutions Learning Management System, including:
    • Adding and deactivating users
    • Supporting staff with management of training programs
  • Analyze staff needs, identify vulnerabilities, and boost efficiency and accuracy

Required skills and qualifications

  • Strong motivation to support a local, mission-driven organization
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Basic knowledge of Information Technology processes and systems
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of company information

Preferred (but not required) skills and qualifications

  • Experience using or managing any of the following platforms / technology:
    • Salesforce
    • Wordpress
    • Zapier
    • Target Solutions LMS
    • ASP
    • SQL
    • HTML/CSS
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in computer science
  • Two years of experience in IT
  • An interest in serving as a volunteer first responder
