NPAT is excited to invite you to our Maddin Prairie Fall Workdays, taking place from September 20-22. This is a wonderful opportunity to contribute to the preservation and maintenance of Maddin Prairie in Mitchel County, our largest property at 1,114 acres and a truly special place.
Our goals for this workday event include clearing the roads for accessibility, habitat restoration, and removing invasive species. We will have jobs for everyone, no prior experience needed! NPAT will provide all tools, gloves, and refreshments. Please plan on wearing appropriate clothing (layers including long sleeves and pants, a hat for sun protection, and closed-toe shoes) and bringing a reusable water bottle.
Volunteers are welcome to join us for any amount of time that fits their schedule - come for the day or stay for the weekend. Tent camping is available on-site, but please be aware that it will likely still be hot. For those who prefer other accommodations, several options are available in nearby Colorado City.

Mission Statement
Native Prairies Association of Texas (NPAT) is a nonprofit membership organization and an accredited land trust. Our mission is dedicated to the conservation, restoration, and appreciation of native prairies, savannas, and other grasslands in Texas.
Description
We protect prairies through acquisition, partnerships, and conservation easements. NPAT-owned properties include the Burleson Prairie near Temple, Elder Prairie Preserve near Brenham, Maddin Prairie Preserve near Colorado City, Lawther-Deer Park Prairie in Deer Park, Talbot Brothers Preserve and Mary Talbot Prairie near New Boston, Riesel Prairie near Marlin, Paul Mathews Prairie near Greenville and the Dowell Ranch near Austin. These and our easement holdings protect over 5,700 acres statewide.
We restore native prairie on our own lands, work with our landowners to restore their lands, and promote restoration on other private and public lands to benefit the native plant communities, pollinators, grassland birds and other prairie wildlife of Texas. We share informational resources and advice on restoration. Maddin Prairie Preserve, conservation easements at Daphne Prairie near Mount Vernon and the Kirchoff Family Farm near Floresville host regular restoration and workshop activities.
We teach about the prairie and its value through our chapter efforts, workshops, presentations, field trips and many types of volunteer opportunities. NPAT has five active chapters, serving members in Greater Houston, Fort Worth, Dallas, and the Fayette Prairie region.
