About Us:

The Michael's Daughter Foundation is dedicated to offering free and low-cost enrichment programs to youth and families in communities significantly impacted by incarceration. Our mission is to create opportunities for growth, education, and positive experiences that empower these individuals to thrive. The people we serve come from an array of backgrounds, most notably black and latinx. We offer our programs primarily to inner city youth and youth in Juvenile Facilities.

The ideal Board Member is someone who has a clear understanding of our mission to enrich the lives of our participants and is passionate about this cause. They are motivated to help the organization grow and evolve. They may even have their personal connection to our mission or may have been system impacted as well.

Position: Volunteer Board Member

Role and Responsibilities:

We are seeking passionate and committed individuals to join our Board of Directors. As a board member, you will contribute to:

  • Fundraising: Develop and implement strategies to secure financial support for our programs.
  • Event Planning: Organize and execute fundraising and community events to raise awareness and funds.
  • Marketing: Promote the foundation’s mission, events, and programs through various marketing channels.
  • Partnership Development: Establish and nurture relationships with local schools, community centers, parks, and other relevant organizations to expand our reach and impact.
  • Attendance: Attend and actively participate in monthly board meetings.
  • Engagement: Contribute to the organization financially or through in-kind donations.
  • Event Participation: Attend and assist with the facilitation of culminating events and other foundation activities.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: fundraising, event planning, marketing, partnership development.
  • Background in non-profits
  • Background in the arts is a plus
  • A strong commitment to the mission of The Michael's Daughter Foundation.
  • Excellent communication and networking skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other board members and foundation staff.
  • Availability to attend monthly meetings and key events throughout the year.

Expectations:

  • Board members are expected to be active participants, contributing their time, expertise, and resources to support the foundation’s goals.
  • This is a volunteer position; however, the impact of your contribution will be deeply rewarding and instrumental in transforming lives within our community.
