Get ready for our 8th Annual BIKE 5 Event, Bike/Walk Central Florida’s signature biking event on October 26th. BIKE 5 helps to build interest in bicycling in our region, provides an opportunity to get to know other local people interested in biking, and supports our non-profit advocacy efforts.
We are looking for dedicated volunteers at the event City Stops to help make the day an excellent adventure for all.
There are three shifts available (6:30am-9:30am; 9:00am-12:00pm; 12:00pm-3:00pm). We ask that you commit to atleast one 3-hour shift. We anticipate the day ending no later than 3pm.
Below is a brief overview of volunteer needs at our city stops:
- Event Set-Up:
- Attend atleast one volunteer prep meeting about a week before the event
- Assist BWCF with tables, chairs, tents, water stations
- During the Event:
- Assist with check-in, giving out T-Shirts, answer questions, introduce riders to their group, point out restrooms, take photos etc.
- Provide snacks and water as riders arrive at stops
- Assist ride leaders with the gathering of their groups
- Post-Event:
- Assist with clean-up
- Assist with tasks as they arise
If you would like to volunteer, please let us know as soon as possible! If you have a city and/or shift preference, please let us know that as well. If you are flexible, that's great too!

Mission Statement
Bike/Walk Central Florida educates and advocates to make communities more walkable, bikeable, and rollable. We strive toward a connected and equitable transportation system that is safe and comfortable for all.
Description
Central Florida continues to be ranked one of the most dangerous places in the country for pedestrians and bicyclists by Smart Growth America’s 2021 Dangerous by Design report That’s why a group of community advocates said enough and formed Bike/Walk Central Florida (BWCF), a regional advocacy organization for bicyclists and pedestrians.
Since 2010, we have worked on behalf of local pedestrians and bicyclists to advocate for safe and convenient places for people to bike and walk regardless of where they live or where they need to go. Our founders and the Bike/Walk Central Florida Board recognizes that the streets are not equally safe for all. And, street safety is more than the number of traffic crashes. That’s why we work tirelessly to advocate for policies, programs, and infrastructure at a local level that is fair, accessible, and considers the unique circumstances impacting communities.
As a nonprofit, we rely on volunteers and donations from individuals, businesses and clubs and we hope you will support our work as we continue to provide the resources necessary for advocates, municipal leaders, engineers, planners, like-minded organizations and people just like you to create more bikeable, walkable and livable communities across Metro Orlando.
