Club Compass, our school-year program, is looking for volunteers! We have both weekly and once-in-a-while opportunities available. Can you spare a few hours each week to support local children?
Volunteer opportunities include:
- Classroom Leader or Mentor
- Kitchen Helper
- Dinner Provider
- Life Skills Partner
Club Compass serves elementary students from Springfield Public Schools District 186 at 5 different host sites in Springfield, Illinois. Club Compass meets once a week. Flexible volunteering options are available!

Mission Statement
The mission of Compass for Kids is to provide academic and social-emotional support to empower underserved children and their families.
Description
Our programs are designed to improve academics and cultivate the crucial life skills our children need to thrive. Compass for Kids works on educating the children as whole persons, and recognizes that social, emotional, and life skills contribute to overall well-being and academic success.
Our Programs:
Club Compass is our out of school time program that meets once a week serving elementary students in Springfield Public Schools - District 186.
Youth Leadership Development Program (YLDP) is designed to provide middle and high school alumni of Club Compass the opportunity to develop as leaders, and be prepared for college, vocational / trade school, the military, and/or to enter the workforce. The ultimate goal is for these youths to graduate from high school and be ready to achieve their dreams.
Camp Compass is a free, summer learning program for underserved elementary students of Springfield, Illinois District 186 Schools.
