Making Slime

We offer a monthly Saturday mid-day childcare program for children in grades K-5. This program is offered to the general population in the Sunset District. The program is staffed by volunteers from the community and Christ Church. We have a dedicated activity for each meeting, along with rotations to play games, do crafts, and create music. We provide lunch. Although the program is sponsored by Christ Church, the program is not religious. We rotate through different holiday celebrations (MId-Autumn Festival, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Winter Holidays).

Volunteers will guide small age-based groups of children, staying with them as they move from activity to activity or play with groups of childrens at the different activities. We comply with California AB506 requirements regarding volunteers who work with children.

Here's a quote from one of our volunteers: "I loved the experience! I didn't really know what to expect going into it, but its exceeded my expectation and has become one of my favorite volunteer activities I've done in SF."

About Christ Church, Lutheran

Location:

1090 Quintara St., San Francisco, CA 94116, US

Mission Statement

Walking in the way of Christ, we connect and care for each other, our communities, and the world.

Description

Christ Church has served the Sunset District of San Francisco for over 100 years, settling into its current location in 1966. In addition to our ministry prorgrams, we have traditionally served our community by opening up our facility to a variety of different neighborhood groups and music organizations, operating a Food Pantry on our site, and leading and joining service projects with Lutheran Social Services and Habitat for Humanity.
This fall we are starting a community childcare program, in collaboration with betterhousingpolicies.org, a Chinese-American group in the Sunset. We are hoping to start a new chapter in how we will work with and in the community. Please join us!
