KITTEN FOSTER COORDINATOR

ORGANIZATION: League City Pets Alive aka Friends of League City Animal Shelter

Experienced kitten fosters to become Coordinator for less experienced kitten fostes. We are located between Houston and Galveston. Most activities require in person participation. Some activities such as coordinating the placement of the kittens, distributing supplies, scheduling vaccinations, sterilization, and monitoring can be done virtually in partnership with the in-person coordinators. Fosters keep weight logs, send photos and verbally give updates.

We have adoptable cats in six pet supply stores and will place 300 kittens this year. Kittens in the store condos MUST be healthy to go to a new home. If a kitten shows any signs of health issues they go into foster care until resolved.

We have a veterinarian on our board of directors equipped to run fecal, and other diagnostic tests. We have three board members that are expert kitten fosters and currently foster themselves. There is no shortage of medical advice, vaccinations, diagnostic tests and medications.

About League City Pets Alive aka Friends of League City Animal Shelter

Location:

PO BOX 57069, WEBSTER, TX 77598, US

Mission Statement

Friends of League City Animal Shelter aka League City Pets Alive is a 501(c)3 nonprofit. Our purpose is to stop the senseless killing of companion animals and maintain the "NO KILL" status of League City. We acquire donations or raise funds for the purchase of services and supplies not covered by the City budget. Funds are used for mostly for veterinary care, medical supplies, puppy and kitten food, and related animal supplies.

Description

In 2013 we set a goal to become NO KILL. The community achieved that goal completely in 2017. A shelter is considered "no kill" at 90% live release rate. We didn't stop there. The volunteers and staff work tirelessly to maintain over 95% live release. Committing to be "no kill" means providing treatment for animals that most shelters would kill rather than spend funds to treat. Our community has a generous giving spirit and we are blessed with donations that allow many animals to be saved. We have cats available for adoption seven days a week at SIX area pet supply stores. The Kitty Condo Krewe increased the live release of cats significantly. The Cat Condo program requires 70 volunteer shifts per week.

"We are delighted to have moved into our new shelter in 2020. The new shelter gives us more space for animals and the ability to engage the community at the shelter and develop more life saving programs.

Come join us in saving lives.
