Mission Statement
The Mentor Leaders Program is a proven initiative designed to empower young men aged 12 to 24 in the city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. With a core focus on specialized instruction, mentorship, peer-to-peer therapy, emotional intelligence, conflict resolution, and communication skills. Our goals are post-secondary school, reduced violence, increased job placement and increased positive communication. Our program aims to equip participants with the tools necessary for personal growth, academic success, and career advancement.
Description
Program Overview:
The Mentor Leaders Program operates 3 to 4 days a week, strategically scheduled during high crime times to provide a positive alternative for young men in the community. By offering a safe and supportive environment, we aim to prevent youth involvement in crime and negative activities while fostering responsibility, guidance, and supervision. In addition, our program is uniquely, qualified, and prepared to help provide full support for students who have experienced social disconnection, trauma and significant learning gaps.
Core Components:
1. Peer-to-Peer Therapy: Facilitated discussions and group activities allow participants to share experiences, challenges, and triumphs in a supportive setting.
2. Emotional Intelligence Training: Workshops and exercises focus on self-awareness, self-regulation, empathy, and social skills development.
3. Conflict Resolution Skills: Through role-playing and scenario-based learning, participants learn constructive ways to manage conflicts and navigate challenging situations.
4. Communication Skills: Training in effective communication techniques, including active listening, assertiveness, and public speaking, enhances participants' ability to express themselves confidently.
5. Post-Secondary School Preparation: Guidance and resources are provided to help participants set and achieve academic and career goals, increasing their chances of post-secondary school enrollment and career-oriented job placement.
