Agora is a think and do tank promoting innovative policies centered on peacebuilding and social justice.
We are looking for a passionate young professional to volunteer with our team in New York. This role is crucial for representing youth issues from Agora at the United Nations, advocating for our initiatives, and building relationships with key stakeholders. The UN Youth Representative will act as the voice of Agora in various UN forums and ensure that youth perspectives are integrated into our advocacy efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Representation: Act as Agora’s representative at the United Nations, attending meetings, forums, and events focused on youth issues.
- Advocacy: Advocate for Agora’s mission and initiatives, particularly in the areas of peacebuilding and drug policy reform.
- Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact between Agora and UN bodies, addressing inquiries and providing updates on our work.
- Networking: Build and maintain relationships with UN officials, other NGOs, and key stakeholders.
- Reporting: Prepare and distribute regular reports on UN activities and their relevance to Agora’s work.
- Support: Provide support to Agora’s team in New York and Mexico as needed, including coordinating events and assisting with administrative tasks.
Qualifications:
- Passion for Social Justice: A strong commitment to Agora’s mission and values.
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree (or currently pursuing) in International Relations, Political Science, or a related field.
- Excellent Communication Skills: Proficient in written and verbal communication in both English and Spanish.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse groups of people.
- Self-Motivated: Able to work independently and take initiative.
- Location: Based in New York, NY.
