Volunteer Opportunity: Scrum Master for Mental Health App Development Team

Location: Remote
Commitment: Flexible hours, 5-10 hours per week
Duration: 3-6 months (with possibility for extension)

About Us: We are a passionate team of volunteers working on an impactful project to develop a mental health app aimed at taking away the stigma of depression and improving mental wellness for people going through heartbreak, grief, and trauma through creative writing and journaling in a community. Our goal is to create a supportive and accessible tool that will help users improve their mental well-being through journaling together as a community. We are looking for an experienced Scrum Master to guide our team and ensure smooth, effective, and agile project execution.

Role Overview: As a Scrum Master, you will play a crucial role in facilitating agile practices and ensuring that our development team remains focused and productive. You will guide the team through the Scrum process, help remove obstacles, and foster a collaborative and positive working environment. Your leadership will be key in helping us deliver a high-quality mental health app that can make a difference.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate all Scrum ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Coach the team on Scrum principles and practices, promoting continuous improvement.
  • Assist the Product Owner in maintaining a clear, prioritized product backlog.
  • Identify and remove any impediments or blockers that may hinder the team’s progress.
  • Foster a culture of open communication, collaboration, and accountability within the team.
  • Track and report on team progress, ensuring transparency and alignment with project goals.
  • Help the team maintain a sustainable pace and avoid burnout.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience as a Scrum Master, preferably with software development teams.
  • Strong understanding of Agile principles and Scrum practices.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to motivate and guide a remote team with diverse skill sets.
  • Passion for mental health and a commitment to contributing to a meaningful project.
  • Certification as a Scrum Master (CSM, PSM) is a plus but not required.

Why Volunteer with Us?

  • Contribute to the development of a meaningful app that can improve mental health.
  • Gain valuable experience working with a diverse and passionate team.
  • Enhance your leadership and Scrum management skills in a real-world project.
  • Make a positive impact and add a significant project to your professional portfolio.

How to Apply: If you’re excited about this opportunity and have the skills to lead our team to success, we’d love to hear from you! Please send your resume and a brief introduction to MJ@thelovestory.org by August 19th, 2024.
