What’s a BUILD LEADER? Builds are events where we actually build the bed components from raw wood. FULL TRAINING PROVIDED - NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY MUST BE WILLING TO TRAIN AND SUPERVISE OTHERS Build Leads are experienced with our build process and help us to oversee and train volunteers. We have some BIG BUILDS scheduled soon and we are going to need more leaders! We still have the following FOUR Build Lead positions available: ~ Cutting/Drilling Stations ~ Sanding Station ~ Slats/Side Rail Stations ~ Staining/Branding Stations Build Leaders will assist with ONE BUILD A MONTH, normally on a Saturday morning, including setup and commit to volunteer as a leader FOR AT LEAST ONE YEAR. 18+ years old Training Provided Paid w/ kids smiles and water and a FREE T-SHIRT! Mission Statement
We build and deliver twin beds to kids 3-17 years old that do not have a bed. Our mission is that NO KID SLEEPS ON THE FLOOR IN OUR TOWN!
Description
The Denton chapter was started by Mike Ferrell in 2022. In 2023 we delivered around 60 beds. We are half way though the year in 2024 and we have surpassed that. It's not enough. We currently have a waiting list for 500+ beds and we have our remaining 8 beds scheduled for delivery this week. We need more volunteers, more donations, more leaders. We need to grow to meet the needs of the kids in our community.
