This annual charity two day golf outing celebrates the legacy of golf pioneer and golf trailblazer Ted Rhodes and is a fundraiser for the HBCU School Fisk University Golf Team and Junior Golf Program First Tee of Tennessee. We are expecting between 75-100 male and female amateur golfers from across the country.
The volunteers are a very important part of this golf outing! We are looking for people that have great communication and leadership skills. Also, people that have a basic knowledge of golf is very helpful.
In-Person Volunteer Opportunities for Kids and Adults - no prior experience necessary!
Location: Ted Rhodes Golf Course, 901 Ed Temple Blvd, Nashville, TN 37208
Dates: Saturday, September 7, 2024 or Sunday, September 8, 2024 (Volunteer one or both days)
Morning Volunteer Shifts: 6:15 am - 11:30 am (and we can be flexible with your schedule needs)
Volunteer positions include, but not limited to:
- The set up team will ensure all banners, signs, and materials are set up and ready to go prior to the arrival of the golfers and that everything looks great prior to the arrival of the golfers
- Golfer greeting and event check-in
- The Drive Range team will work from 6:30 a.m. - 8:00 a.m. and set up the drive range and manage the driving range prior to the golf tournament. (Great opportunity for Teenagers & College students)
- Golf cart and scorecard organization - placing scorecards and golf cart assignments on carts, helping golfers find their cart
- Our hospitality team will take water and snacks to the golfers
- And more!

Our mission is to preserve and honor the legacy of golfing pioneer Theodore "Ted" Rhodes. The Ted Rhodes Foundation is dedicated to preserving the legacy of Ted Rhodes by empowering underprivileged youth through the game of golf. We strive to provide access, resources, and opportunities that foster life skills, discipline, career readiness, and community engagement. Through education and mentorship, we aim to inspire the next generation to achieve their full potential both on and off the course.
Description
Ted Rhodes’ vision was to make the game of golf open to all races. The Foundation is honoring his vision by introducing the game of golf to youth in the urban areas by hosting educational events about the careers in golf, golf clinics, golf tournaments, and communication and leadership training via Toastmasters International. Our youth programming is under the name Future Golfers of America " Growing the Champions of Tomorrow’. We provide financial support to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) golf programs and golf team members to help further this mission. We also partner with local urban youth golf programs. Opening doors to the world of golf.
