Lenox Hill Neighborhood House is a 130-year old settlement house widely recognized as one of New York's premier human services providers. Founded in 1894 as a free kindergarten for immigrant childre, the Nieighborhood House now serves 16,000 people in need each year through a wide array of effective and integrated services--social, educational, legal, health, housing, mental health, nutritional and fitness.
We are seeking volunteers to serve meals at our Women's Mental Health Shelter. Located in the Park Avenue Armory, our Women's Mental Health Shelter is a 24-hour program that addresses the critical issues facing homeless women age 45-and-over living with severe and persistent mental illness. Volunteers will make a direct connection with these women working side-by-side with our staff to serve healthy and delicious meals prepared by our cooks. The time commimtent involves volunteering for at least one meal per week:
Breakfast, 7:00am-8:00am, Lunch, 11:45am-12:45pm or Dinner, 5:15pm-6:15pm.

Description
Lenox Hill Neighborhood House was founded in 1894 by the Alumnae Association of Normal College (now known as Hunter College of the City University of New York) as a free kindergarten for the children of indigent immigrants. Since then, we have remained at the forefront of community advocacy and social and educational change.
