"Volunteers are the Heart of Hospice."
Patient Companions Volunteers are needed in Santa Fe New Mexico. Volunteers typicaly visit patients once per week on a day that suits their schedule. Training is provided and a volunteer coordinator is available to guide you along the way. This position is well suited to somone with empathy and compassion who loves people and who is a good listenter. While a hospice diagnosis can be a dauting thing for patients and their families the loving and compationate pressence of a volunteer can be the key to easing that load. There are many benefits to volunteering in hospice.
Volunteers often report feeling honoured to be with patients and their families and experience the joy of giving.
Along with companionship our patient volunteers can provide special services if they already have the apropriate certification. For example our program also has a need for Reiki practitioners, massage therapists, musicians, and Spanish & Navajo speakers.
