We need a few volunteers to photograph the event for us!

Take pictures at the start, finish, s'mores station, along the run route, and awards ceremony. Submit photos to bjarvis@gshg.com within 1 week. No watermarks. Photos will be the property of GSHG. You have permission to use them.

Run through the diverse woods of Camp Martha Johnston (CMJ). This peaceful 165-acre camp in Crawford County has been owned and operated by Girl Scouts since 1925. On September 14, 2024, we are inviting the community out to our 5K Into The Woods Trail Run. CMJ offers miles of rustic scenery, hardwood forest, Sweetwater Creek, bridges, gravel, sand, mud, roots, rocks... OH MY! Come out and discover (or rediscover) Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia’s traditional Girl Scout camp. Our Into The Woods Fun Run will also offer plenty of fun and adventure for those seeking less terrain and woodland. And camp isn’t complete without fireside s’mores! Come for an adventure and stay for a treat.

Mission Statement

Girl Scout Mission Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.

Description

Girl Scouts unleashes the G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, Leader) (tm) in every girl, preparing her for a lifetime of leadership-from taking a night-time hike under the stars to accepting a mission on the International Space Station; from lobbying the city council with her troop to holding a seat in Congress; from running her own cookie business today to tackling cybersecurity tomorrow.

Our Girl Scout Leadership Experience is a one-of-a-kind leadership development program for girls, with proven results. It is based on time-tested methods and research-backed programming that help girls take the lead-in their own lives and in the world.

Research shows that girls learn best in an all-girl, girl-led, and girl-friendly environment. Girl Scouts is a place where she’ll practice different skills, explore her potential, take on leadership positions-and even feel allowed to fail, dust herself off, get up, and try again. The inclusive, all-female environment of a Girl Scout troop creates a safe space where girls can try new things, develop a range of skills, take on leadership roles, and just be themselves.
