United in Service: TMC Washington D.C. Service Platoon

For our annual United in Service campaign, The Mission Continues Service Platoons across the country have organized service projects for veterans and local volunteers to come together, make an impact in their community, and honor those who served and sacrificed in the wake of 9/11.

This year, the Washington D.C. Platoon is excited to partner with Arcadia Center for Sustainable Food and Agriculture, in an effort to continue their work supporting local educational garden spaces. Of the 8 weekend farmer's markets held East of the Anacostia River, Arcadia hosts 6 of them. Come out as we help this amazing organization increase their capacity to serve by building a greenhouse on the farm. We will also be planting fruit trees and assisting their resident farmers who are members of their Veterans Farmer Training Program.

Everyone is welcome! Whether you're a skilled builder, a gardening enthusiast, or simply eager to lend a hand for a good cause, your presence will make a difference. Be sure to wear clothes that can get dirty and closed-toe shoes. The Mission Continues will be providing free lunch to all volunteers.
