Challenging people with disabilities to discover their purpose, talents, and strengths through the transforming power of adventure.

At Waypoint Adventure, we recognize the willful spirit inside each of us, and we help unleash it. Free it. We see adventure as a teacher, one that breathes confidence into us all. Once you’ve taken on that challenge of adventure... you’ll begin to invite opportunities that can change the way you think and transform your life. Where "I can’t" becomes "Yes, I can", Waypoint Adventure is here to help free what’s possible.

Join us on an adventure!

Volunteers are the people who enable Waypoint Adventure to fulfill its mission. Each volunteer is an invaluable part of this organization. No prior experience required, but trainings offered periodically. By volunteering on programs or around the office, you help challenge people with disabilities to discover their purpose, potential, and abilities through the transforming power of adventure!

Welcome to the Waypoint Adventure's Tandem Cycling Program. The group will work together cycling the back roads and bike paths of Massachusetts. Participants and volunteers are encouraged to bring lunch and socialize on the trail and during breaks. We will match up two riders (a Captain and a Stoker) The Captain will be the leader and the Stoker is the other half of the team, who works with the Captain to enjoy the adventure of tandem cycling. Some of our bikes are more traditional upright bicycles that require teamwork and balance. We also have other models that are side by side or recumbent, low to the ground, tandems. Some have two wheels and require more balance while others are quite sturdy and more supportive with three wheels and supportive seats. A successful tandem riding experience will be about matching the bike and teammates and working together as a group. The adventure will go from there.

About Waypoint Adventure

Location:

Mission Statement

Waypoint’s mission is to challenge youth and adults with disabilities to discover their purpose, talents and strengths through the transforming power of adventure.

Description

Waypoint Adventure is a non-profit organization that runs adventure education programs for people with disabilities. We work with all ages and all ability levels. We run 11 different program types: indoor/outdoor rock climbing, indoor/outdoor kayaking, canoeing, hiking, snowshoeing, backpacking, cycling, cross-country skiing, ropes courses, and team building. We collaborate with school groups, social service organizations, families and individuals to design programs that meet their goals and objectives. These programs are not just about having fun on a boat ride, climbing high on a rock or sliding down a zip line. They are about positive individual and group development. They’re about building social and character skills and transforming people’s views of themselves and their abilities.

Waypoint’s vision is that all people, regardless of ability, will have opportunities for adventure; through adventure, people realize their personal value, strengths and abilities and ultimately become stronger individuals and community members.
