Making a Difference
Two of our volunteers preparing sensory stimulating activities to be used with patients dealing with dementia.

Homeside Hospice is looking for volunteers to provide companionship to patients in their home, Assisted Livings, or nursing home in Middlesex, Union , Somerset, Monmouth, and Hudson counties. As a companion you will provide a listening ear and a sharing spirit to enhance the patient's emotional and spiritual well-being.

As a volunteer you will provide essential, quality of life services to patients. Your efforts will provide the sort of care and help that a loving friend provides and help insure that the Hospice promise is fulfilled.

Some visits might include reading, watching TV, taking walks, playing music, talking about their life and their family, or shared silence. Also needed are music therapists and pet therapists!!

Homeside Hospice provides specialized Health care services that focus on symptom control, comfort and support for the terminally ill and their families. Our goal is to provide individuals with the highest possible level of physical, emotional, spiritual and practical support necessary during this time. Owned and operated by nurses, Homeside services consist of a patient-focused interdisciplinary care team of a medical director, nurses, social workers, chaplains, home health aides and volunteers. All decisions regarding patient care are made with the patient's quality of life as the primary goal. Our patient and family support system provides the level of care needed to meet the unique needs of those experience a life-limiting illness. As a small program, we provide the personal touch that has become lost in today's healthcare environment.

Description

Homeside Hospice is a privately owned hospice operated by nurses to provide quality care for patients. It is distinguished from larger institutional hospices by

  • being owned and operated by nurses,
  • being small and personal,
  • providing individualized care wherever the patient lives.

Homeside Hospice is Medicare certified and licensed by the New Jersey Department of Health and is a member of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) and the New Jersey Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NJHPCO).

Our service area is Central and North Jersey and we have contracts with a number of nursing homes in these areas.

Homeside Hospice provides personalized care, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week emergency response, in-home and in-patient hospice care, medicare coverage, family counseling, spiritual support, pain and symptom management.

Homeside Hospice provides specialized health care services that focus on pain relief, symptom control, comfort and support for terminally ill patients. Our goal is to provide individuals with the highest possible level of physical, emotional, spiritual and practical support necessary during this time.
