Recruiting Organization: AARP Michigan
Purpose of Position: AARP Smartphone Workshop Facilitators support AARP Michigan State Office staff and volunteers by facilitating in-person workshops that help older adults learn how to use smartphones effectively.
Responsibilities of Position:
- Facilitate interactive workshops on smartphone usage, covering basic functions, apps, internet safety and other relevant topics.
- In collaboration with Associate State Director for Communications, ensure workshop materials are current and comprehensive.
- Provide one-on-one assistance to participants as needed during workshops.
- Collect feedback from workshop participants to improve future sessions.
- Collaborate with other volunteers and AARP staff to schedule and promote workshops.
- Stay informed about the latest smartphone technologies and trends to provide up-to-date information.
Qualifications:
- Commitment to the goals and priorities of AARP.
- Membership in AARP preferred.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills.
- Patience and ability to work well with diverse populations, backgrounds, and experiences.
- Proficiency with smartphones and related technologies.
- Experience in education, training, or facilitation preferred but not mandatory.
Time Required: Approximately 1-2 hours per workshop, with workshops scheduled as needed.
Training Required: AARP will provide an orientation to the volunteer specific to those areas the volunteer will be providing support for. Additional skills training, issue briefings, and coaching will be conducted as necessary.
Travel Required: Limited travel may be requested for in-person workshops and events.
Scope of Authority: The Smartphone Workshop Facilitator does not directly supervise any volunteers.
Expenses: Qualified expenses related to performing in this role will be reimbursed.
