MORE is a non-profit organization that empowers new Americans by providing English classes at our home site and onsite at various workplaces. We also offer social services and basic needs assistance. By doing so, MORE provides participants with the opportunity to reach their full potential and enjoy abundant, healthy lives with greater stability.

This is an unpaid volunteer position serving on the Board of Directors of MORE.

Responsibilities:

  • Know MORE’s mission, policies, programs, and needs
  • Provide fiduciary oversight of MORE
  • Pursue financial resources necessary for MORE to advance its mission
  • Serve as an ambassador for MORE in sharing its mission and conduct outreach to potential students and donors
  • Prepare for, attend, and conscientiously participate in board meetings
  • Participate fully in one or more committees

Desired Experience and Requirements:

  • 1-3 years of experience in board governance, non-profit support, fundraising, or volunteer coordination preferred, but not required
  • Strong leadership skills with ability to motivate and encourage others
  • Refugee/immigrant connection is a plus
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
