Defend the Potential of Youth and Apply to be a Big with Big Brothers Big Sisters!
Big Brothers Big Sisters creates and supports one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth. We are looking for mentors for our site-based program in Northwest ISD for the 2024-2025 school year.
Our "Littles" (mentees) are youth between ages 7-16 and come from a variety of backgrounds. 86% of youth we serve come from low-or-moderate income families and 84% of youth we serve are from a non-two parent household. Our Littles want a Big and understand the role of a Big. Our "Bigs" (mentors) are adults volunteers who have a sincere interests in being a friend and role model to a child. Like our Littles, they come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.
Site/School-Based Program at a Glance:
- Bigs and Littles meet 2-4 times a month at the Little's school
- Bigs may eat lunch with their Little or hang out in another space in the school doing activities like reading, arts and crafts, and playing games.
- Currently partnered with various schools in Northwest ISD.
- Minimum match commitment of 2 school semesters.
Each of our matches is supported by a BBBS staff person who provides guidance, support, and resources so each match can be healthy and successful.

Description
Since 1904, Big Brothers Big Sisters has operated under the belief that inherent in every child is incredible potential. As the nation’s largest donor- and volunteer-supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers ("Bigs") and children ("Littles"), ages 7 through young adulthood in communities across the country. We develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people.
