"Save Our Beaches SC" is leading the charge to restore San Clemente's beaches in the following ways:

  1. We advocate before many government agencies that can impact our beaches
  2. We seek to educate everyone of what has happened to our beaches, why it is happening, and what can be done. We have experts within our organization so our approach is based on science.
  3. Restoring our beaches is a multi-layered effort. We have many needs for volunteers. Respond to this request and we will send you our needs and let you decide what would best fit your desire to become involved.

Mission Statement

Advocating for the restoration and preservation of our beautiful beaches

Description

Three years ago, local citizens became aware that our beaches were eroding at an alarming rate. More alarming was that governmental agencies (Federal, State and City) seemed unaware of this crisis. Since that time we have been advocating for the restoration of our local beaches - and we're seeing results! The restoration of beaches is now a key talking point of any politician with a beach in their district. Thanks to our efforts, the Orange County Transportation Agency, who three years ago didn't recognize sand as a component in protecting their tracks, has now reversed course. Our organization seeks to educate everyone about what has caused the loss of sand and what can be done about it. The loss of beaches is not inevitable. We can make a difference through aggressive sand replenishment and retention systems to ensure the sand is retained. But we need help - in government matters, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. We need energetic volunteers in a variety of ways. Be part of something special that will pay dividends for generations.
