We are currently looking for volunteers interested in being a Friendly Visitor in-person for elders living in Boston, Brookline, Newton, Cambridge, and Somerville. Scheduling is flexible, volunteers must be 18+, and ideally this time commitment would be 9-12 months. Some locations in Newton (not all) may require a car.

To volunteer: Please complete a short volunteer application online. https://fw4elders.org/get-involved/volunteer-application.html

FriendshipWorks was founded in 1984 to help reduce social isolation, enhance the quality of life, and preserve the dignity of older adults in Greater Boston. This work is accomplished by recruiting volunteers of all ages, faiths, and backgrounds who provide friendship, advocacy, education, assistance, and emotional support. Volunteers are critical to helping address the serious health risks posed by social isolation in the elder community. In turn, you are rewarded with rich one-on-one relationships. The beauty is in both the giving and receiving at FriendshipWorks.

Help us make matches that create connections, lead to friendships, and reduce isolation, one elder at a time. To learn more, visit www.fw4elders.org.
