Share the ship's fascinating stories, assist with tours, and engage guests with interactive exhibits that bring the golden age of steam navigation throughout the Great Lakes to life. Whether you're passionate about history, maritime heritage, or simply love connecting with people, this role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to our mission of education and preservation in a dynamic museum environment.

*Note: Due to its historic nature, the Mather is not a fully accessible attraction and can be difficult to maneuver for those with mobility or vision issues.

About Great Lakes Science Center

Location:

601 Erieside Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44114, US

Mission Statement

Our mission is simple: to make Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) come alive. The Science Center envisions a community where all people value science, technology, engineering and math to inform decision-making and enrich lives.

Description

Great Lakes Science Center, home of the NASA Glenn Visitor Center, makes science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) come alive for more than 300,000 visitors a year through hundreds of hands-on exhibits, temporary exhibitions, the Cleveland Clinic DOME Theater, historic Steamship William G. Mather, daily science demonstrations, seasonal camps, and more. The Science Center is funded in part by the citizens of Cuyahoga County through Cuyahoga Arts and Culture. Visit GreatScience.com for more information.

Volunteers are an integral part of our workshops, science shows, special events and the overall welcoming atmosphere of fun and curiosity cultivated by the Science Center. Volunteers assist our guest engagement staff, man our information desk, lead tours aboard the historic Steamship William G. Mather and so much more. Our Volunteers enjoy bringing our exhibits to life with additional information and new ways to interact with and learn from them. Creating amazing stories for our visitors through answering questions, one-on-one interaction, and mind-blowing science demonstrations ensures that both the volunteer's, and the guest's, experience is a memorable one.
