ORGANIZATION: WOMEN IN CHARGE

Volunteers needed at Women In Charge. We prepare women between the ages of 17 and 70 to prepare for the HiSet (High School Equivalency Test). Basic knowledge of Reading, Writing, Math and content areas (Social Studies and Science) required. No Computer skills necessary. Experience in education and/or Algebra I and II a plus. Our hours are Monday through Thursday 9 AM-12:30 PM. If you have an hour or 2 to spare it during these times, it would be greatly appreciated. Description

Founded in 1992, Women In Charge is devoted to empowering women to move one step at a time toward independence. Women In Charge is a safe and nurturing environment offering a variety of programs such as adult literacy and HiSET preparation created to meet the emotional, social, educational, and career ambitions of the women throughout the St. Louis Metropolitan area. The recently added ESL program offers free English Language classes to both men and women. Improved English will help give the immigrants and refugees the confidence and skills they need to acquire and maintain employment, leading to long-term improvements in their own lives and futures of their children.
