PanCAN PurpleStride Alabama Teams Chair!
At PanCAN, we are passionate about taking bold action to improve patients’ lives - especially those that are disproportionately impacted by this disease. Our mission centers on advancing scientific research, building a strong and supportive community, sharing knowledge, and advocating for pancreatic cancer patients.
As we look to the future, we have set ambitious goals which guide our efforts and inspire us to go above and beyond. By 2030, we aim to drive the five-year pancreatic cancer survival rate from 10% to 20%, ensuring people with pancreatic cancer will have more time with loved ones. Additionally, we strive to raise $80 million annually to fund critical research and support services that will shape a better tomorrow. Finally, we are committed to increasing awareness of PanCAN in the U.S. from 14% to 30%, spreading the message of hope far and wide.
Learn More about the Teams Chair Volunteer Role!
As the Teams Chair, your role is to lead with mission and impact to recruit, coach, and steward all friends, family, and community teams for PurpleStride. This includes personal outreach (phone calls and emails) to build relationships and coach current team captains, ask past teams to register for the upcoming event and find new team captains to join PurpleStride. This role should partner very closely with the Corporate Teams and Grand Club Chairs as there is often overlap in the relationships you manage.
PurpleStride team fundraising is about 80% of our total PurpleStride revenue, so it's critical in funding PanCAN's lifechanging programs and services for pancreatic cancer patients. This is why the work you are doing in your role is so important. We are grateful for your help!
PurpleStride teams generally raise anywhere from $2,000 to $100,000+!
We recommend that every team captain recruits at least 10 people, and every team member sets a minimum fundraising goal of $200.
To ensure success in your role, you should:
* Be comfortable making phone calls to previous and prospective team captains
* Be knowledgeable about the event, PanCAN, and team benefits
* Recruit volunteers to support your outreach efforts

Description
PanCAN was the first organization dedicated to fighting pancreatic cancer in a comprehensive way, and for more than two decades, we’ve grown a nationwide movement tackling the disease from all angles.
- Research: We fund transformative research - everything from early detection to innovative new treatment approaches.
- Patient Services: We provide information about treatment options, diet and nutrition, support resources and more, and we can answer all your questions along the way.
- Advocacy: We work with thousands of grassroots advocates to urge Congress to increase federal research funding for pancreatic cancer, and we get results.
- Community: Be part of our movement! You can volunteer locally, participate in a PurpleStride community event or host your own fundraiser.
