Volunteer Job Description:

Wild Paws seeks dynamic, self-starters to assist in our fundraising efforts, including Letters of Inquiry (LOI), Requests for Proposal (RFP) and grant research and writing. This is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of fundraising, including promotion of Wild Paws through fundraising events and outreach opportunities.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with grant research, application writing and tracking, including calendaring deadlines
  • Assist in organizing and implementation of awareness and giving campaigns
  • Collaborating on new ideas, directions and venues for fundraising, including donor development and corporate relations
  • Assist in maintaining grant databases and files
  • Collaborate and assist as needed in planning community engagement, outreach and fundraising events
  • Assist in tracking and evaluating all fundraising efforts, including outreach and special events
  • Assist in planning and implementing a fundraising plan
  • Assist in preparing acknowledgement letters, thank you cards and other correspondence, including follow-up

Qualifications:

  • Interest in wildlife species and conservation and rescue, sustaining the environment, and education of the public
  • Solid oral and written communication skills
  • Computer literate, i.e. working knowledge of word processing and data spreadsheets; knowledge of slide presentations a plus
  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner with funders and community contacts
  • Experience in grant writing is a plus
  • Experience with Point of Sale devices/software (i.e. Square credit card processing) and having knowledge of Customer Relationship (CRM) software is a plus
  • Self-motivated, good organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines, time and asset management skills
  • Interest in nonprofit development/fundraising

Time commitment: Minimum of 4-8 hours per month

Wild Paws Midwest Animal Sanctuary is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to saving the lives of wild animals. We are a collection of animal lovers passionate about protecting our resources for today and beyond.

Our team has decades of animal rescue and keeping experience collectively, and includes an experienced and passionate veterinarian, a board of directors that have all volunteered or worked for numerous years at other animal organizations, and a variety of talented volunteers all bringing their broad expertise to this organization.
