SHP is a nationwide 501c3 nonprofit committed to our mission of NO KID SLEEPS ON THE FLOOR IN OUR TOWN!
At the Denton TX chapter, we provide beds to kids in our communities in the Denton County area. We currently have around 500 kids on our waiting list and we need all the help we can get.
We have two different types of volunteer opportunities:
Build Days: We build twin beds from raw wood by assigning volunteers at multiple stations. Stations include cutting, drilling, sanding, assembly, stain and branding. Training is provided and children are welcome with parent supervision.
Deliveries: We gather a team of leaders and volunteers to finish assembling the beds in the homes of the children, leaving them with a twin bed, mattress, and a complete set of bedding.

The Denton chapter was started by Mike Ferrell in 2022. In 2023 we delivered around 60 beds. We are half way though the year in 2024 and we have surpassed that. It's not enough. We currently have a waiting list for 500+ beds and we have our remaining 8 beds scheduled for delivery this week. We need more volunteers, more donations, more leaders. We need to grow to meet the needs of the kids in our community.
