Hutchinson Recreation commission's Salty Dog and Salty Pup Triathlons promote participants to live healthy, active lifestyles. Proceeds from the event go toward youth scholarships at Hutchinson Recreation Commission.

Swim Area Volunteers Needed-6:30am to 10:00am
1. Crowd Control-direct spectators to use NW gate, stay off pool deck area, don't interfere
2. Swim Start Coordinator-assist lining up participants
3. Pool Exit/Ladder-direct participants where to go when they exit the pool (will follow sidewalk heading east to exit the pool area)
4. Pool Sidewalk-Help keep sidewalk path clear of spectators and direct racers as needed
5. Office-Keep spectators from interfering with races exiting the pool area, and that they stay behind the barriers.
6. Spectator Entrance-Outside the gate to concessions common area and direct spectators where to enter the pool for the event. Direct them as they exit toward the start of the biking portion.
7. Exit Sidewalk-monitor the sidewalk leading out of the pool, ensure racers are not interfered with as they begin the bike portion of the race.

Bike Area Volunteers Needed 6:30am to 10:00am:
1. Bike Transition Area-See that all participants receive a bike stall to store their bike while they swim and run. Ensure participant mounts and dismoungs the bicycle in the proper areas.
2. Bike Transition (Start)-Ensure racers won't mount bikes early, and enter the timing mat in an orderly fashion, keep spectators out of bike transition area.
3. Bike Transition (Finish)-Ensure racers dismount bicycle after crossing timing mat area and walk their bikes back to their bike station. Direct racers where run portion of the race begins and keep spectators out of the bike transition area.
4. Bike Spectator Area-See that spectators stay behind the barriers and out of the parking lot.
5. Course Monitor (SW Emerson Loop Parking Lot)-Watch racers biking on the course, look for break downs, wrecks, and contact volunteer coordinator if a racer needs assistance.
6. Course Monitor (Emerson Loop Spotter)-Positioned south of Emerson Loop and Blanchard intersection to spot oncoming bike traffic and relay info to person allowing cars to enter the golf course.
7. Course Monitor (Plum Street and Emerson Loop)-Instruct bikers to keep left if they need to continue laps, or turn right if they have finished the proper number of laps and finish.
8. Bike Finish (east entrace to Salt City Splash)-Instruct bikers to dismount after crossing the mat and walk their bike to storage area.
8. Finish Line Chip Timers-Verify bib numer to the racer crossing the finish line, and assist timer guys with calibrating race results.

Run Area Volunteers Needed 6:30am to 10:00am
1.Water Station #1 (NE sidewalk corner outside of Salt City Splash)-Direct racers on which way to turn to stay on course, prefill cups for racers to drink, pick up discarded cups and other trasn and cheer on the racers.
2. Water Station #2 (NW parking lot by Stremel Fields)-See #1 description.
3. Water Station #3 (S. Gazebo on Jim Martinez trail)-See #1 description.
4. Water Stration #4 (Jim Martinez Trail, south of McQueen Fields)-See #1 description
5. Run Area Coordinator-Will be at sidewalk leading to the run start and directing racers as they finish the bike portion on where to go. Will also assist w/ keeping spectators out of the way.
6. Run Start Area-Assist the Run Timer with instructing runners when to cross the mat, keep spectators out and direct runners where to turn left.
7. Run Spectator Crossing-Assist spectators needing to cross sidewalk outside of the pool, located just north of the bike racks
8. Run Course Monitor (Trestle Bridge)-Assist runners w/ keeping on course and help keep spectators off the course
9. Run Course Monitor (Carey Blvd Crossing)-Assist runners w/ crossing Carey Blvd and keep spectators off the course. Will be assisted by HPD and barricaded.
10. Run Course Monitor (Plum Street Crossing)-Assist runners w/ crossing Plum and turning south towards the finish line and keep spectators off the course, and a second volunteer will be closer to the finish line seeing that participants enter the parking lot for the finish line, spectators stay off the course, and Salty Pup bikers take the path to the Splash parking lot.

Finish Line Area Volunteers Needed 6:30am to 10:00am
1. Coordinators-set up the finish line refreshment tables, cut fruit, set out bottled water, and assist with handing out medals
2. Food Prep-Help set up the food station (this will end at 8:30am instead of 10:00am)
3. Clean Up Personnel-Pick up cones, signs, bike racks, event fencing and race supplies and return them to Hutch Rec storage. (This will be later on from 9:00am-11:00am.)

Mission Statement

The mission of The Volunteer Center is to match individuals willing to serve with non-profit and governmental organizations in need of help for the benefit the community. Our goal is to be the first place people think of when they want to be of service and the first place non-profit and governmental groups think of when they need dependable volunteer help. As a result we extend the human capacity of area non-profit and governmental agencies by recruiting volunteers to fill a wide variety of volunteer positions in the community.

Description

The Volunteer Center recruits, refers and supports volunteers for the betterment of the community. The Center is home of the Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), the Volunteer Action Corps (VAC), Friends in Action and the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program in Reno County, Kansas.
