Get ready! The National Veterans Wheelchair Games (NVWG) is coming to Minneapolis, July 17 - 22, 2025. The Minneapolis VA Health Care System is preparing for a wide array of volunteer opportunities before and during this amazing event! Volunteers will be asked to commit to at least one 4-hour or 8-hour shift during the Games. No prior experience is necessary; event staff will train and supervise volunteers in their roles.

Volunteers will be needed of all ages and abilities, both individual and group opportunities! Contact CDCE through this posting to be among the first to join us as a volunteer for this rewarding and exciting event. Dates/times, and locations will vary in the greater Twin Cities area based on competition focus and event venue. More details to come when you sign up here!

Children 10-15 years old can volunteer with a parent or guardian; 16-17 years old can volunteer without a parent or guardian present if they have a parent/guardian consent form on file.

The National Veterans Wheelchair Games (NWVG) is the largest annual wheelchair sporting event in the world. Hosted in a different city each year, it is presented by the Department of Veterans Affairs and Paralyzed Veterans of America. More than 600 Veterans, 200 coaches, 500 family members, and 3000+ volunteers will participate in the annual event.

Opportunities include:

  • Registration, Check-in, Guest Services
  • Assisting with 20+ individual and team sporting events
  • Handing out water/towels to Veteran athletes
  • Set-up/Tear-down of events
  • Strong individuals to help with lifting of Veteran athletes in events such as swimming, slalom, etc.
  • And many more!

A resume is not required but can be submitted before or during the initial new volunteer appointment with CDCE.
