Description

Parents for Window Blind Safety, a non-profit founded by the Kaisers after their daughter's tragic accident, has been advocating for safer window blinds since 2002. Cheyenne's life was taken by a hazardous blind cord, despite it being placed high. Linda Kaiser significantly researched her daughter's tragedy, revealing numerous similar incidents documented by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. Window cords continue to pose a risk to children, despite industry-regulated safety testing.
The organization's relentless advocacy since its inception has led to improved safety standards.
Parents for Window Blind Safety has tirelessly campaigned to increase awareness about the risks posed by exposed window blind cords to young children. The organization's accomplishments include persuading retailers to discontinue selling blinds with dangerous cords, advocating for stronger warning labels, and campaigning for mandatory safety standards. Their efforts led to a 2022 safety standard requiring all blinds and shades to be cordless or have inaccessible cords. Injuries have seen a decline due to their advocacy. However, the organization continues to lobby for more comprehensive safety regulations and innovative product designs to prevent further accidents. Their mission remains to safeguard children nationwide. For more on their work, refer to their Advocacy timeline.
