As part of the annual Hampden Children's Day, we are seeking volunteers to help us fit and distribute free bike helmets to children at the event! The event is on Saturday, August 10 from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm at Hampden Academy. Volunteers can split the shift as needed. Training will be provided at the event. This is a fun way to help keep children safe!

The mission of Safe Kids Maine is to prevent unintentional injuries to children through education, empowerment, advocacy, and community engagement. Through targeted outreach efforts, we aim to provide families with the knowledge and resources necessary to minimize the risks and prevent accidental injuries and deaths to children in Maine.

Description

Safe Kids Maine was founded in 1988 as a coalition of Safe Kids Worldwide. Our goal is to reduce the incidence of unintentional, accidental injuries to children throughout Maine. Our primary focus area is child passenger safety with secondary focus on bicycle and pedestrian safety, fire and burn prevention, water safety and drowning prevention, home safety, and many more topics to keep children safe. We conduct regular car seat inspection station and checkup events and provide free or low-cost car seats to underserved families experiencing economical hardship.
