Now in its 3rd year, the Kelly Brush Ride: Bay Area is a peer-to-peer fundraiser in which participants ride on the road or mountain bike course of their choice in support of the work of the Kelly Brush Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to inspiring and empowering people living with spinal cord injuries to leave active, engaged lives through the power of adaptive sports and recreation.

This growing event cannot happen without the support of volunteers to help at the pre/post ride site in downtown Mill Valley, and on the ride courses at water stops.

Mission Statement

Our Mission: To inspire and empower people with spinal cord injuries to lead active and engaged lives. The Kelly Brush Foundation (KBF) is dedicated to making active lifestyles a reality for those who have experienced a spinal cord injury. We offer the inspiration to believe and the grants to enable anyone to buy the equipment they need to get out and go. When you’re out there on the hill, road, court, water or trail, as your heart rate rises and you feel the wind on your face, disability fades away. An active lifestyle forges connections with others -- both new friends and old, in and out of a chair. The KBF was founded by Kelly and her family after Kelly was injured in 2006 at an NCAA alpine ski race. Since our founding, we’ve been committed to ski racing safety and will continue to advocate and provide resources so that every ski racer is training and competing on the safest possible venues.

Description

Our programs include: The Active Fund, which provides grants to individuals to allow them to purchase life-changing adaptive sports and recreation equipment; Path2Active Scholarships and TryitFirst Grants to allow individual to try equipment or attend programming through another adaptive sprots organization; KBF Camps to provide camaraderie and instruction to folks in the SCI community; The Active Project, an online resource to help connect people in the Adaptive Community with one another and resources available around the country; and Ski Racing Safety programs including Equipment Grants, trainings, and distribution of Stop the Bleed Kits.
