2024 Get Out the Vote initiative (Berkeley/Oakland)

Fill out the form below if you are interested in interning or volunteering with us for the Fall 2024 semester with the potential of further involvement in other YWCA-led programming. This application is in regard to the YWCA's Get Out the Vote initiative focusing on increasing voting accessibility, engagement, and political confidence for young women* in the greater Berkeley/Oakland area. Our work is centered on creating unbiased resources for the purpose of teaching voters how to use the tools available to them to vote for what they believe in.

We are seeking support in the following programming:
  1. Surveying the greater Berkeley/Oakland area (July/August)
  2. College and Community Center Voter Registration Drive (September/October)
  3. YWomen Vote Social Media Campaign (October/November)
Throughout the above programs, the following roles will be available:
  • Surveyor (2-4 hours/week): surveying in different Berkeley/Oakland locations to learn about the specific needs of young voters.
  • Tabling (2-4 hours/week): tabling at various local colleges and community centers that we've partnered with to register/pre-register young voters and promote resources.
  • Resource design/creation (5-10 hours/week): designing paper and online materials catered towards the data we've received from surveying.
  • Social media marketing (5-10 hours/week): designing, filming, and editing media to engage young voters via social media and email lists.
