DCRC is seeking thoughtful and empowering volunteers to join our team providing services to victims of Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, and Human Trafficking who are in the process of obtaining protection orders. As a volunteer Court Accompaniment Advocate, you will play a pivotal role in helping clients understand the outcome of their hearing, reading the protection order, and understanding next steps. Your support through knowledge of the court system, language of the protective orders, and steps taken to finalize the order will help clients to feel secure in the outcome of a court case.
You will receive over 20 hours of training, role playing of court document questions, and court accompaniment shadowing prior to starting independent shifts. No volunteer is put to work until they are confident and comfortable.
Perks:
· Choose your shift to operate and provide support for morning and/or afternoon court sessions (weekdays 9:30 - 1:00 or 2:30 - 5:00).
· Comprehensive training, with continuous training over time
· Volunteer and paid staff that are excited to serve the community as your colleagues
