ORGANIZATION: Durham Crisis Response Center

DCRC is seeking thoughtful and empowering volunteers to join our team providing services to victims of Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, and Human Trafficking who come to the office for legal or crisis services. The administrative volunteer shift is Friday 12:30-5:00 (flexible). This volunteer is the "Director of First Impressions" and welcomes survivors in, creating a sense of safety and peace when they come through the door or call the administrative line.

You will receive 10 hours of training prior to starting independent shifts. No volunteer is put to work until they are confident and comfortable.

The Durham Crisis Response Center works with the community to end domestic, sexual and family violence and human trafficking through advocacy, education, support, and prevention.

Description

Durham Crisis Response Center (DCRC) is the largest provider of comprehensive shelter and support services to survivors of domestic, sexual, and family violence, and human trafficking and their families, in the Durham area. DCRC services include a 24-hour confidential crisis line, hospital and court accompaniment, support groups, short-term individual counseling, and referrals for job training, housing, childcare and other community services. All direct services are offered to the community free of charge. We also offer educational workshops and professional training for service providers, churches, schools, police, hospitals, civic groups and other community members.
