Silent Auction Volunteers Needed to Support Children Impacted by Cancer

ORGANIZATION: Walk With Sally



Our annual gala event invites volunteers who are able to help us move the silent auction items from the display area to the checkout area where guests will pick up the item they bid on and assisting with check out.

Why: On Saturday August 10th, Walk With Sally will host their 20th Annual White Light White Night. Over 600 attendees are expected to come together to support children of families impacted by cancer.

Who: White Light White Night (WLWN) is Walk With Sally's annual gala event, raising funds for our mission to provide care-centered one-to-one fellowships and additional programs and services to uplift the family unit and lessen the burden of cancer.

What to Expect:

Move sient auction items from tables to checkout area

Check out guests

Give guests their item

What's Required:

White outfit (a shirt will be given)

Tech savvy (for digital check out)

Detail oriented

We need about 10 volunteers from 7:30pm to 12pm on August 10th

Walk With Sally is committed to providing healing and comfort to children debilitated by the emotional experience of living with or losing a parent or sibling to cancer. This healing is facilitated through free of charge mentoring support programs and services that provide an emotionally safe environment for children to share their difficult experience with someone who has suffered the same. We invite you to join our mission and Walk With Sally.

Description

We need volunteers for the following Programs:

Mentoring Program - The focus is to match and create meaningful one-on-one mentoring relationships ("friendships") between children and adults. At Walk With Sally, the mentoring relationship is referred to as a "Friendship." The child in the "Friendship" is living, lived with or lost a parent/sibling to cancer. The adult in the "Friendship" lived with or lost a parent/sibling to cancer in their lifetime or is a cancer survivor. The mentor and mentee must commit to each other for a minimum of 1 year. The hours shared together are 6-8 hours per month. Mentors and mentees must successfully complete an application, interview and background checks.

HeART to Home - This program is designed to assist children ages 5-17 who have experienced the death of their sibling or parent due to Cancer. Trained facilitators travel to the child's home to provide an expressive arts program over 8 sessions. The purpose of this program is to provide an opportunity for children to explore their feelings through the expressive arts and help them develop skills to cope with their grief and loss in safe and healthy ways.
