NEW BOARD MEMBER OPENING AT NORTHSTAR CLASSICAL SCHOOL

Northstar Classical is a nonprofit organization located in Middletown Ohio that started up eight years ago. As a school for grades Junior Kindergarten through 7th grade, we provide a unique experience through a combination of a classical education and Christian Faith. After a period of rapid growth and great success in educating students, we hit a plateau in our growth. We have recently a robust two-year strategy that is focused on continued academic excellence and strengthening the financial health of the school.

Mission: We provide our students with an education that sharpens minds, fosters a love of God, and cultivates passion for learning.

Goals

  • * Recruit and retain ninety well-qualified students and enable them to achieve their potential.
  • * Retain and continue to develop a staff of talented, highly committed teachers who foster excellence in every student.

Position Overview: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our Board of Directors. Ideally this person would have hands-on experience in a private education school. As a Volunteer Board Member, you will play a vital role in advancing our mission and goals, contributing your time, skills, and expertise to support our mission.

Responsibilities:

* Attend monthly board meetings and actively participate in discussions and decision-making processes

  • * Provide guidance and perspective on running a school, maintaining high standards, building a great team, engaging families and the community, etc.
  • * Dedicate time to fundraising efforts, including donor outreach, grant writing, and event planning
  • * Advocate for Northstar Classical within your personal and professional networks, raising awareness and support for our programs and initiatives
  • * Collaborate with fellow board members to develop and implement strategic plans and initiatives
  • * Stay informed about relevant issues, trends, and best practices in the nonprofit sector and classical education

Qualifications

  • * Active involvement in the local community and willingness to leverage personal networks for the benefit of Northstar Classical
  • * Experience or expertise in educating youth (grades Junior K to 8th) in a private or public setting
  • * Excellent collaboration skills, with the ability to work well with other Board members and school staff to tackle tough issues, make decisions, and get things done.

Time Commitment: Approximately 10-12 hours per month, including board meetings, key school activities, committee work, fundraising events, and advocacy efforts.

Benefits:

  • * Opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young students
  • * Gain valuable experience in nonprofit governance, leadership, and strategic planning
  • * Network and collaborate with like-minded individuals who share a passion for God and youth development.
