This is an active and short shift that helps us collect food from local grocery stores. In a food rescue, a volunteer(s) goes to a designated grocery stores and takes food that is unable to be sold. This volunteer opportunity lasts from 60-90 minutes and the stores are all located in Minneapolis. You'll be driving Joyce Uptown Foodshelf's cargo van and head to stores like Lunds & Byerlys, Whole Foods and Cub Foods to collect boxes of food.

Description
Joyce Uptown Foodshelf (JUFS) is a people centered, no questions asked food shelf in the heart of Uptown Minneapolis. Since 1969 JUFS has provided food for those in need throughout the South Minneapolis community. With a budget of $300,000 and 5 staff (3 FTEs), JUFS serves over 600 households with 55,000 pounds of food each month.
