We are thrilled to have 2 available seats on the Circus Center's Board of Directors in San Francisco.

As a member of the board of Directors at the Circus Center, you have a unique opportunity to further the vision seeded in 1974 when The Pickle Family Circus was founded. We are part of a 30+ year history, rich with fostering recreational and professional training and performance that has, in turn, successfully inspired a new generation of circus performers and enthusiasts. As a board, we aim to continue the hard work of those who came before us, setting the school up for success and moving into the future. We are fostering a vibrant hub for the circus community on the West Coast, employing circus professionals, providing pre-professional and recreational training for all ages, producing performances, maintaining space for professional rehearsals, investing in social circus outreach programs for under-resourced locations, and much much more. Together, these activities infuse the San Francisco performing arts scene with a much-needed dose of circus.

The Board’s Job

The essential role of the Board of Directors is to provide governance to Circus Center, a 501(c)(3) organization. Our job, therefore, is direction and oversight to make sure that Circus Center can answer "yes" to questions like:

Are we serving our mission? Are we managing money effectively? Are we compliant with applicable regulations and safety standards?

The Board’s other important responsibility is hiring, supporting, and overseeing the Executive Director and Head of School.

We're a diverse group of creative, passionate, dedicated people doing our part to share the joy of circus in all its forms with the community together. And we look forward to meeting YOU!

Mission Statement

At Circus Center, we aim to inspire passion for the circus arts through training, performance, and community engagement. Our vision is to be a cornerstone for the preservation and advancement of the circus arts in North America. Through our programming, we strive to be: ** A world-class circus school providing excellent, well-rounded training to new, young, emerging, and professional circus artists. ** A primary home for the Bay Area’s diverse community of circus artists, offering a training space, expert faculty, and artistic development opportunities that no one else can match. ** A circus school that commits abundant resources to build connections and cultivate passion for the circus arts in historically excluded and under-resourced communities.

Description

Circus Center offers classes for every level of ability in flying trapeze, acrobatics, aerial arts, contortion, juggling and many other disciplines.

We are a vibrant hub of the circus community on the West Coast. Throughout the year, Circus Center produces professional-quality shows starring our students, instructors, and community members. Our pre-professional youth troupe has sent students on to careers in circuses around the world, with a scholarship program that helps young artists to pursue their professional dreams regardless of ability to pay.

We have also established a social circus outreach program for under-resourced youth and youth with learning differences in locations around the Bay Area.
