Wesley Housing has kicked off a six-month-long celebration for its 50th anniversary, marking five decades of significant contributions to affordable housing across the metropolitan Washington, DC region. To commemorate the milestone, the leading nonprofit affordable housing developer, owner, and operator will spotlight historic development accomplishments, leadership legends, and program highlights as well as host engagement events for community residents. We are seeking social media ambassadors to help raise awareness about Wesley Housing's mission, history, and impact throughout the region so we can continue building up lives for decades to come.

What is a social media advocate?
A social media advocate is someone who represents a brand, product, event or service online via social channels.

What are the benefits of becoming a social media advocate for Wesley Housing?
* Resume-building volunteer experience that can be shared with future employers.
* Potential recognition in Wesley Housing print or digital platforms

Your Role as an Advocate for Wesley Housing:
By becoming a Social Media Advocate, you will play an active role in helping Wesley Housing achieve two major goals in our strategic plan:
1) Strengthen and protect brand identity and visibility
2) Strengthen organizational and financial capacity

We can achieve this together with your help. As a social media advocate your role is to:

* Raise awareness about Wesley Housing's 50 years of service throughout the region
* Actively promote / share what Wesley Housing means to you and what our organization does
* Introduce to your network all the ways in which they can contribute and donate to Wesley Housing (including becoming Ambassadors themselves)
* Contribute to positive messages and work to build awareness of Wesley Housing
* Educate target audience about the need for affordable housing in the region
* Share photos, stories featured on the Wesley Housing channels - Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Website

Support upcoming Wesley Housing campaigns:

* Wesley Housing's 50th Anniversary Initiatves
* Supplies for Succes Back to School Program
* Holiday Help


Who can be a Social Media Advocate?
In order to become a Social Media Advocate for Wesley Housing you must:
* Be passionate about affordable housing and Wesley Housing’s mission, and are enthusiastic about engaging others in the conversation
* Be willing to use your social media power to spread the word about the Wesley Housing’s impact and have at least one social media profile, including Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn
* Be able to post Wesley Housing related information 6-12 times per year
* Reside in one of our service areas
* Agree to follow the Wesley Housing social media policy when posting as a Wesley Housing Social Media Advocate

Description

Wesley Housing is a nonprofit affordable housing developer operating 29 communities totaling over 2,300 affordable housing units, serving over 25,000 individuals. In addition to housing, Wesley Housing also provides services to its residents through Community Resource Centers which offer afterschool programs for youth, computer training, job skills training, ESL classes, nutrition classes and recreational programs for youth and adults.
