Nativity House Shelter is looking to build out an activities calendar and is looking for volunteers to help teach workshops.

The Nativity House Art Room has lots of paper and is eager to find a volunteer to teach Origami workshops.

Requirements:

  • At least 18 years old & able to pass a Washington State Patrol background check
  • Experience teaching art classes is a HUGE plus
  • Volunteers must sign a Covid-19 liability waiver to be eligible to serve
  • Volunteer must attend a volunteer orientation before they can start volunteering

Desired Volunteer Qualities:

  • Kindness, patience & a good sense of humor
  • Comfort working with people from a diverse range of backgrounds & experiences
  • Understanding that art enriches lives, especially the lives of people experiencing deep poverty
  • Ability to leave judgement at the door & create a fun, safe & welcoming space
  • Flexibility & creativity in finding ways to teach using supplies that have been donated

Description

Volunteer Services provides low-income adults (anyone 18 years old or older) who have temporary or permanent functional disabilities, including those associated with aging. The people we serve can not afford to purchase the kinds of service we provide, do not qualify for assistance from other sources and do not have family or friends available to help them. Service is provided on an as-volunteers-are-available basis. There are never any fees for the services provided.
