Description

The MVWDB plays a vital role as a link between job seekers and employers, ensuring access to education, training, and support for workforce success. Operating under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), we meet local community needs effectively. MVWDB's focus on Title 1b services under WIOA targets individuals with significant employment barriers. Our services include case management, education, training, job search aid, and financial support. With federal funding mostly allocated to service providers, we impact communities through IowaWORKS Centers in Burlington and Davenport. In 2023, MVWDB was chosen as 1 of 16 teams nationwide in the Department of Labor Job Quality Academy and 1 out of 20 for Jobs for the Future. Though not financially supported, these experiences provided invaluable insights for our workforce system transformation. Our national engagements include sessions at the National Association of Workforce Board Forum as well as National Association of Workforce Development Professionals. Over three years, we've positively impacted 1,346 individuals, aiming to track broader impacts in the upcoming year. Our participant demographics highlight the need for targeted interventions, with a focus on inclusion and support. Looking ahead, MVWDB commits to thriving workforce ecosystems by innovating, collaborating, and adapting. Our strategic planning, national engagements, recognition for innovative programs like Virtual Reality, sector partnerships, and diversifying funding aim to enhance workforce services and community prosperity.
