The Rental Sales Gallery (RSG) is part of Portland Art Museum (PAM), serving as a commercial gallery space. It represents over 200 regional artists, making their works available for both rental and purchase, all of the proceeds made supporting either the artist or PAM’s overall mission. Volunteers are essential for the success of this space, serving in a wide range of different roles and supporting the Gallery Manager.

The art delivery/installation volunteer assists the RSG by providing transport of rented artworks to client’s homes or businesses via the Museum van.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

- Be part of a team to drive the Museum delivery van to the client’s home or business address and deliver selected artworks (covering the Portland Metro and Vancouver, WA areas)

- Install the artworks per the client’s request (the majority of the works are to hung on walls, using simple hanging hooks, but other means can be used if a client requests it)

- Load/unload artworks from the van with the assistance of other volunteers/Gallery staff

- Provide outstanding customer service to gallery clients. Represent the RSG in a positive light and have a passion for the arts

- Assist the Manager with other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

- Valid drivers license and safe record required. Must pass MVR check for insurance purposes

- Availability to undergo training on the Museum van procedures

- No prior van driving or art hanging experience is required, but is beneficial

- To be able to safely lift and move artworks of different sizes and weights is required, with appropriate training and guidance from Gallery staff. Lift/move weight of up to 25 lbs.

- Willingness to work as part of a team in order to deliver a high-quality client experience in a variety of domestic and commercial settings

- Patient and courteous under all circumstances, maintain a warm, helpful and friendly atmosphere

- Flexible outlook and willingness to engage with different duties as required as the needs of the Gallery will often vary from day-to-day (for example, there may be days when there are no delivery/installation tasks. so the volunteer can assist in the Gallery instead)

- Must be 21 years and older

- All volunteers are required to pass a criminal background check

TIME COMMITMENT

- Flexible, but required to be available for at least one 3-hour shift every two weeks

- Delivery/installation shifts are 11am-2pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays
