Sumter Habitat for Humanity is looking for volunteers to lend a hand on our current build sites. Our Construction Lead and Site Supervisor work hard to keep all home builds moving foward, but they can't do it on their own. We love energetic volunteers who can come alongside them and help hammer, haul, scrub, paint, and raise roofs for our amazing families in process!
Volunteer build days are on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 8am-3:30pm. Volunteers must be 18 y.o. (16-17 y.o. welcomed with legal guardian permission and supervision from an adult 25+).
Groups are welcome! The builds are a great team-building opportunity, so bring your whole sorority, Bible study, or Board of Trustees along. Our construction team is skilled in home construction and working with volunteers with all skill levels. Previous construction experience is not required, all we ask is a willingness to learn and serve!

Seeking to put God's love into action, Sumter Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope by partnering families in need with volunteers and resources.
Sumter Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1987 and to date, has built 128 affordable homes in the Sumter area. In 2023, we started groundwork for building affordable senior housing and accessibility ramps to empower low-income elderly citizens to stay in their homes. These projects are made possible by volunteers like YOU!
We have two main areas for volunteers to partner with us:
The Habitat for Humanity ReStore is filled and funded by donations and all proceeds go towards our mission. While we have a core staff, managing the donations and purchases of our customers can be challenging! We work hard every day to keep our retail areas neat, clean, and ready to sell. We love volunteers who can come in and help accept donations, serve shoppers, and be a part of our year-round fundraiser.
We also have year-round build sites with our Site Foreman and Crew Leads, but they can't build homes efficiently by themselves. You can contribute your time, energy, and skills towards accomplishing the goal of ending substandard housing. While we greatly appreciate volunteers who have construction or 'handman' knowledge and experience, it is NOT a requirement to come assist on projects!
