Instagram/Social Media Volunteer:

Our goal is to use the social media plan created by previous volunteers to develop, plan and schedule interactive and engaging posts for our social media channels to help increase tourism.

A virtual volunteer (English and Spanish ideal but not required) that is willing to delve into the beauty that is our Center, its activites and programs, so that you can help us maintain an engaging online experience.

There should be a calendar with 2-3 posts per week with visual and well articulated posts with relevant hashtags.

We already have quite the library of photos and videos. This could be simply using the already existing material to create the posts or elaborating more content with graphics or as videos/reels.

2 options to volunteer:

  1. Ongoing where you are actively spending 2-4 hours/week in keeping up the posts.
  2. Specific project based (appx 20 hours) to create a month(+) calendar of content.

There are already a list of ideas and areas for content creation and you would be working in direct contact and supervision with the Director of Communications, that is on the ground at the project.

This is a task that helps tremendously so that we can reach clients and supporters, as well as spending as much time possible with our hands in the soil and rooted with the community.

-----------

This project promotes sustainable community development and entrepreneurship through ecotourism and agro-ecology, looking to have a positive impact on cultural, environmental and social aspects of the local population and visitors.

This is a Regenerative Center built around sustainable permaculture techniques and natural building to be a center that promotes an alternative tourism integrating the local community and nature as well as working in community development with families of the local villages. We are working in permaculture and the community simultaneously while inviting tourism into our land through the cabin stays, local food and tours to provide immersion experiences for visitors.

Alta Verapaz is a department located in the north of Guatemala, about 200 km from Guatemala City. Cobán, the closest urban area 65 km away, is the third most populated department in Guatemala. Lanquín is a village in the department of Alta Verapaz, a remote Mayan village close to a popular natural park and national wonder of Semuc Champey. Its name means "village surrounded by straw" being part of the Q’eqchi territory and one of the richest biodiverse environments in nature of Guatemala due to the wonders offered by its humid rainforests.

Mission Statement

We are a regenerative center dedicated to regenerate the earth & promote harmony in community through agroecology, artisanal production, ecotourism, education and holistic healing.

Description

Tuqtuquilal Regenerative Center is a mountain that hosts the project born in 2017 in the tropical rainforest of Lanquin, Guatemala. Our goal is to promote a sustainable natural, social, and economic environment by working together with the Q'eqchi' Maya community, which has historically protected its ancestral territory.

Our concept of regeneration is based on the principle of understanding the wisdom that the land offers us so that we can repair the natural, economic, and social fabric that is embedded in the territory where Tuqtuquilal is located. Tuqtuquilal (tuuk-tuuk-iyl-lahl) is a word with origins in the Q'eqchi' Maya language that translates best into English as 'harmony' or 'natural flow.'

Our aim is to regenerate the land, promote sustainable community development, and entrepreneurship through ecotourism, artisanal production, organic agriculture, and education. Within our facilities, we craft a variety of products using raw materials (such as cacao, turmeric, ginger, cardamom, etc) with a network of farming families that make up the "Ratzum Cacao Network," which was created as part of the community organization process driven by the project.
