Who We Are
Business Ownership Initiative (BOI) is the lending arm of the Indy Chamber’s Entrepreneur Services division. We’re a certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) and a microlender through the Small Business Administration (SBA), which means we can provide microloans to clients who may not qualify through traditional lending organizations.

What You Will Do
As the Data Specialist Assistant, you will monitor and track loan payments from customers, help establish repayment plans and resolve payment issues, communicate with customers regarding outstanding payments and well as new customer intake and coaching, assist in the preparation of loan documents, research local resources to aid clients, update coaching resources, and identify small businesses in need of capital.

When You Serve with Us
* Earn a $9,000 stipend for serving 450 hours, payable by bimonthly direct deposit.
* Earn an additional $1,824 education benefit to pay down qualifying student loan debt or to continue your education.
* Receive Credit As An Asset and CDFI 101 certification.
* Receive ongoing coaching, mentorship, and professional development.

What Your Work Environment Will Be
This is a 3 to 4 month position where you will typically serve between Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with occasional evenings and weekends. An exact schedule will be determined upon selection. You will report in person at our office and will be required to travel locally for meetings and community events.

We Welcome You to Apply If You
* Have lived experience or an interest in working with a diverse group of people.
* Identify as any generation but are at least 17 years old.
* Possess unexpired proof of status as a US citizen or permanent resident.
* Consent to complete a criminal history check, which is required for all candidates. Don’t let this stop you! A criminal record does not mean a person cannot serve, and if this is a concern, reach out to Beth Romeo at bromeo2@lisc.org.
* LISC AmeriCorps is available to everyone eligible to serve. We treat all persons without regard to race, color, religion, creed, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, ancestry, citizenship status, age, marital status, veteran status, disability, genetic information, or any other characteristic or status protected by applicable federal, state, or local law.

This position is made possible through a partnership between Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), AmeriCorps, and BOI. To learn more about LISC AmeriCorps, visit www.lisc.org/americorps. To learn more about BOI, visit www.businessownership.org.

Mission Statement

Together with residents and partners, we help forge resilient and inclusive communities of opportunity across America-great places to live, work, visit, do business and raise families.

Description

LISC AmeriCorps is a national service program made possible by funding from the AmeriCorps federal agency to inspire community connection and promote community solutions. Since 1994, passionate, dedicated people serving as LISC AmeriCorps members with community development groups in the places where LISC works, from urban centers to rural communities, has been a vital part of our capacity-building strategy.

LISC AmeriCorps members serve an important, three-fold purpose: members serve with organizations to spearhead valuable projects; they engage local residents in the revitalization of their own neighborhoods; and they develop skills, experience and insight into community development and the profound value of service. LISC AmeriCorps is a valuable talent pipeline for community economic development and is an onramp for people with lived experience to secure good jobs. LISC AmeriCorps offers a competitive national service living stipend, leadership training opportunities, and opportunities to connect with like-minded peers across the LISC AmeriCorps network. LISC AmeriCorps equips emerging leaders with the skills to effect long-term community-based change.
