iSTEMkids, formerly iSTEM Academy, is a 501(c)3 non-profit offering after school STEM education to elementary students in the local community. Our most popular courses are Scratch Web Dev and Robotics with Hummingbird. Our courses also have more humanitarian aspects, introducing notable contributions made by people sidelined by history, and teaching ethical consumption and production of technology. Feel free to view our website at www.istemkids.com.

As an iSTEM Relationship Manager, you will use your innate rizz to help us expand into new youth service spaces and to build partnerships with other non-profits and community leaders. You will find people who work towards the same values as iSTEM and create opportunities for co-operation. You will assist in moving us to a path that involves fundraising and grant opportunities. You will provide informed guidance on how iSTEM can better embody the needs and vibe of the community, and how we can create successful and active community events.

As an iSTEM Relationship Manager, you will primarily work remotely, but you need to live in the area and ideally have an understanding of the relevant communities and services within Portland-Vancouver. You will need to make contact with your contacts digitally as well as in person and attend relevant functions in order to support relationship building for iSTEM.

The heart of iSTEM is in our values and class rules of:

Be Kind - To yourself and others

Be Curious - Don't be afraid to ask questions or test assumptions in the interest of knowledge, even if it means something might break

Be Focused - Follow the plan until there is reason to re-evaluate it. Create a space where others can focus on their efforts

If interested in this opportunity, prepare to discuss how your skillset is suited for iSTEM, and what you require to be most fulfilled with your volunteer opportunity with us. If you have any other relevant skills that you would like to offer which could be of value, please also be ready to discuss those as well.

Thank you from all of us at iSTEM

About ISTEM KIDS

Location:

Mission Statement

iSTEM’s mission is to facilitate access to STEM education and increase digital and science literacy in young learners

Description

Since iSTEM held its first course, we've experienced a heartwarming and unexpectedly high demand for our services. We thank the local community, including Camas School District, and our students' parents for the incredible support.

In May of 2018, iSTEM offered its first class, "Custom 3D printed Fidget Spinners" to the Camas School District. Initially working with just 8 borrowed laptops, iSTEM quickly expanded to two school districts, 6 schools, and nearly 80 students. We've provided courses in 3D printing, 3D modeling, robotics, Minecraft modding, and graphic design. With the success and community support of our program, within just one year, we were able to invest in better equipment, additional courses, and an expanded staff.

In 2020, we shut down due to Covid. This was a time of false restarts, pivoting, and ingenuity, but we pulled through and are now emerging as a stronger, more adaptable company.

As we move through 2024, we are expanding into additional educational models and spaces, as we continue working to provide STEM education to all.
