Challenge Course Volunteers Needed

ORGANIZATION: National Ability Center

Challenge Course Assistants assist recreation instructors with facilitating high and low ropes programs at the National Ability Center challenge course. Volunteers help fit participants with harness and helmets, belay participants, help with course facilitation and guidance, and assist in maintaining a safe course.

Steps to become a challenge course volunteer:

  • Sign up to volunteer via our NAC volunteer portal
  • Attend an Indoor Rock Climbing assistant training and Belay Check Off
  • Attend a Challenge Course assistant training
  • Volunteer!

Description

The National Ability Center offers a wide variety of year-round activities, which include alpine and cross-country skiing, snowboarding, swimming, cycling, waterskiing, horseback riding, rafting and camping trips, challenge course activities, leadership training and more!

Individuals of all ages and abilities take part in the Ability Center's programs, including those with orthopedic, spinal cord, neuromuscular, visual and hearing impairments, as well as those with cognitive disabilities. Specially designed equipment is available for many of the activities.
