Young Authors Conference (YAC) gives 4th-8th grade students the opportunity to learn from professionals with real writing experience. Students attend a keynote address and three interactive writing sessions led by local fiction and non-fiction writers. Students leave YAC with a greater passion to write and a new set of strategies and ideas with which to experiment.
Volunteers are needed to assist with lunch, guide students on campus, monitor the book fair and open mic, and ensure that students have a fun and exciting day! Volunteers can bring a student to participate for free.

Mission Statement
To create powerful learning experiences that challenge students to explore interests, discover new perspectives, connect with professionals in the community, and visualize their success beyond the classroom.
Description
SparkPath (formerly Success Beyond the Classroom)’s history includes 30+ years of working with schools to provide relevant, highly valued enrichment programs to students across the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area.
Whether the focus is on writing, exploring STEM careers, participating in academic competitions, or problem-solving through creative thinking, students at SparkPath events have unique opportunities to engage in hands-on activities with leaders, professionals, and fellow students. Each of SparkPath’s programs makes it possible for students to discover and explore new talents, passions, and possibilities for their future.
Our events could not happen without our AMAZING "Red Shirt Volunteers"! Volunteer tasks range from checking in school groups, helping students feel safe as they navigate campus, assisting presenters during their sessions, monitoring various spaces, transporting lunches, helping with event logistics, and most importantly... having fun!
